Let’s talk video quality. There are a lot of elements to go over. Just too much to go over here. So I put together a guide called How to Generate Great Footage Every Time. I studied with the legendary cinematographer Bob Elfstrom and he speaks right through me on that document. It’s the best and simplest lighting tutorial you will find and it’s about a 2-minute read. If you want a successful virtual event, you must be able to guarantee a great listening and watching experience for your audience. This can only be achieved through professional audio and video.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Let’s talk audio first because there are less elements. If you’re sitting alone in a quiet room in front of your computer, you’re fine. Just use your computer’s mic and go with that. But if you’re in a room large with an echo, if you’re more than five feet from your computer/phone, or if you really want to be hears of as a professional, you should use an external mic. Clip it on, place it in front of you, or have it just out of frame — whatever you have to do. The point here is that you must test your audio first and listen carefully. If it has too much echo or reverb, your audience will tune out and start multitasking, leave, or worse, never return. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

The content of a virtual event is obviously important, but aspects like presentation, video, and audio production cannot be ignored. Your content won't be received properly without the proper approach to achieving obtainable creative standards.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
You must be able to make a choice at every step of this creative process on what is good, and what is better. People do not do business with people who choose poor production quality. They do business with people who look and sound like the experts they are. You must learn to listen for poor audio, poor video, and bad etiquettes so you can fix it yourself. It’s your job to package your promised show into something the world will enjoy. Your job is to deliver on a video product that can compete and win in the marketplace.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
