CARE AND COMPASSION IN ACTION by GATEWAY CENTER OF MONTEREY COUNTY

Embark on a journey of compassion and understanding with my latest portfolio entry, showcasing an 8-minute film created for The Gateway Center of Monterey County. This moving piece, prominently featured on the organization’s homepage, delves deep into the lives and experiences of adults with developmental disabilities, highlighting their rights, place in our community, and the people who empower them.

The Gateway Center of Monterey County is an organization with a noble mission: to provide adults with developmental disabilities the best environment to live and work at the highest level possible. They are committed to supporting individual rights and choices and empowering their clients to live full and productive lives with dignity and independence within the community. Their core values of Rights, Choices, and Opportunities for Growth guide everything they do, aiming to ensure that each person they serve can lead a meaningful, joyful, and productive life.

In creating this film, my goal was to capture the essence of Gateway Center’s impactful work and the profound difference they make in the lives of their clients. The main feature, an 8-minute film, is the first video in the gallery below. It is complemented by a series of shorter videos, each focusing on different aspects of their services or spotlighting individual programs – formatted for social media. These pieces together weave a narrative of hope, empowerment, and community, reflecting the center’s dedication to its mission.

As a Carmel, CA-based videographer, I approached this project with a deep sense of responsibility and a commitment to authenticity. Working closely with the Executive Director, Robert Freiri, I aimed to create a visual story that informs and touches the heart, encouraging viewers to understand and appreciate the vital role the center plays in the lives of adults with developmental disabilities.

This portfolio entry is more than just a showcase of my work; it’s a tribute to the Gateway Center of Monterey County and the essential services they provide.
