How to Book a Project

1. Tell Us About Your Project
Reach out through the form, by phone, or by email—whatever’s easiest.
We gather the basics so we can respond quickly and point you toward the right next step.

2. Instant Email (~3 min)
You’ll receive an automated “select-your-services” proposal with options.
If your project needs something different or more custom, we’ll guide you to a Development Meeting.

3. Development Meeting (required)
A 20–30 minute conversation to align on story, scope, access, logistics, and success.
Most clients book after this meeting so we can help them choose the right approach.

4. Proposal & Agreement
A fixed-bid proposal—or for larger productions, a flexible bid where expenses are approved before they’re incurred.
Clear deliverables, clear timeline.
What Happens Next

Scheduling
Your production date is confirmed once the project is booked.
If you already have a date, we lock it in; if not, we select one together.

Production Day
Lean, efficient crew scaled to your project.
We capture all required footage according to the agreed scope.

Edit & Review
Editing begins after filming and follows the timeline set in your proposal.
Turnaround times vary by project type, from fast-turn event videos to extended documentary work.

Final Delivery
Final files are delivered in all required formats.
Horizontal masters plus any needed alternates (vertical, square, or platform-specific).
Distribution support (posting to your channels or managing paid ads) can be added to your scope.
Hire a Local Pro
We’re professional, trusted filmmakers based on the Monterey Peninsula. Whether you need footage-only, filming with editing, or a full production that includes distribution, we handle every technical detail so you can stay focused on the creative.
Why Specialized Video Matters
If video is the outcome, choose a video-first team
What You Get With a Video-First Team
– Trained camera operators who understand story, coverage, and pacing
– Modern, cinema-quality camera kits with accurate color and clean audio
– Intentional shot design that ensures your video feels polished and professional
– Multi-cam setups that follow the action rather than sit static
– Interviews lit and framed for clarity, confidence, and emotional impact
– Editorial craftsmanship that shapes your message into a compelling story
– Clear project management that avoids endless revisions
– Footage and final videos you’re proud to share
– Deliverables tailored for your platforms (web, social, LMS, internal, broadcast)
– A partner who anticipates needs, solves problems early, and protects your brand
VS
What You Risk With A/V Contractors
– Under-qualified operators with little or no storytelling training
– Outdated, inconsistent, or mismatched camera gear
– Static cameras that miss key moments and produce unusable footage
– Poor lighting and framing that flatten interviews or make subjects uncomfortable
– Weak edits that feel slow, generic, or off-brand
– Long turnaround times with unclear communication
– Endless revision cycles that drain your time and energy
– Videos you don’t end up using—or feel embarrassed to share
– Deliverables in the wrong formats, requiring expensive fixes later
– A reactive team that records but doesn’t truly produce

With my wife Brittney, I’ve run House of 8 Media full-time since 2013 after a decade teaching digital filmmaking through our conservatory, where over 200 students created competitive portfolio pieces and three original feature films. Our company’s most recognized works includes the PBS-Airing Big Sur wildlife documentary, Condor Canyon, the Carmel documentary, Bohemian Soul, and many more. We average over 100 productions/year. I enjoy creating mission-driven films and capturing community events for organizations across the Monterey Peninsula.
– Vimeo for masters, embedding, sharing, social versions, and review links
– Dropbox Business for time-sensitive transcodes and quick access
– Raw footage on a shipped drive (client-supplied or billed at cost)
– Project libraries are maintained for ongoing or long-term clients
