About Elfriede Kraft
Elfriede Maria Kraft, born in Frankfurt, Germany, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 17th, 2021, surrounded by family in Monterey, CA.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Friede Stiehler & Otto Michel, her brother William Michel, her son Christopher Kraft. She is survived by her former husband, John Kraft, her children John Kraft Jr., Michele Kraft-Zane, and her four grandchildren, Felcia Gupta, Brittney Kraft, Laura Latimer, and Travis Kraft. She is lovingly remembered by her sister, Hanna Moerseberg and all those who knew her.
Her most favorite thing to do was spending time with Family & Friends, whether in person or on the phone. She also picked up new hobbies along the way, first starting with playing the guitar, writing, tai chi, ukulele, learning Spanish, attending Church and volunteering through Church events, Salvation Army, Grey Bears. The last 3 years of her life she donated her long hair to Locks of Love, in support of cancer patients needing wigs, in honor of her late son.
She loved writing and reading, always learning about health, exercise, new recipes and keeping up with current events. A lover of music, she knew all types of music, including classical, opera, and classic rock. Earlier years, she hiked Camelback Mountain with her son Chris, and later on, continued hiking in forests, along oceans, and swimming at the clubhouse in Aptos.
Her early years were horrific, growing up in Frankfurt during WWII, house being bombed, living in barracks, family struggles for food and shelter. But through this pain, grew an amazing human being with a gentle spirit, able to connect to people on a deeper level, develop meaningful relationships, and teach her children compassion for those less fortunate, forgiveness to those who betray, and courage to keep the faith when times are a struggle.
